Railway Telegraph

Standing proud on the corner of Stanstead Road, Forest Hill, is the Railway Telegraph.

This place has so much potential, but sadly, I have never seen it busy. It’s a real shame.

It has a beer garden out front which receives plenty of sunshine. It also has a beer garden out the back, complete with a Hobbits House. The bar has undertaken new management and I just don’t feel that they’ve done anything different to attract new clientele.

I always see ‘older’ men at the bar, sat on stools. They always stare and not in a ‘welcoming’ or inquisitive way, just a ‘ugh, who’s this?’ kinda way. The staff are always more keen on chatting to their ‘stool minders’ than their new customers.

The really sad thing is, that this is my favourite Sunday Roast in Forest Hill, but the atmosphere is so dead.

Go, if you want a quick Sunday Roast that is delicious! Don’t go, if you are expecting a lively atmosphere.

Very sad indeed.

Have you been here? Do you agree?
