Situated on the busy London Road in Forest Hill, The Capitol is the largest of the bars in Forest Hill and by far, the cheapest.
Point to note: This is a Wetherspoons
I have nothing against Wetherspoons, it works with my bank very well. I just wanted to let you know, incase you hadn’t realised 😉
The food is as cheap as chips. The venue, is as standard Wetherpoons go, in a gorgeous old building. This particular building is a large former art deco building
Whilst The Capitol doesn’t play music, it would be a good place to start a ‘pub crawl’. It has plenty of seats and has a large beer garden as well. This beer garden however, doesn’t get as much sun as others in Forest Hill, due to it being skinny with tall surrounding walls.
The food is your typical pub food and the prices are easily doable. They serve Ale’s and have monthly ‘guest ales’ to sample as well, if that’s your bag.
As this used to be an old cinema from the 1920s, it manages to keep up appearances by hosting movie nights, which I think is a great idea. Good community spirit and always good to enjoy a film with a drink.
I also quite like a cheeky Wetherspoons brekkie now and again.
This hits my ‘Best Prices’ in Forest Hill in my “Best of…..” series.
If you want a night that doesn’t break the bank, then The Capitol is for you.
Have you been here? What do you think of The Capitol?
